Day 2: Saints fan in San Francisco

Usually before big games, I do some kind of statistical analysis for my own edification.

This time, I looked at the 49er home stats vs the Saints away stats.

This is what I figured out:

Saints away, 441 offensive yards per game, 357 defensive yards, 27 points scored, 25 allowed
49ers home, 324 offensive yards per game, 303 defensive yards, 28 points scored, 11 allowed

The Saints' opponents also had .504 record (9th toughest in the NFL) vs 49er's opponent record of .488 (tied for 6th easiest).

I also rode over to Candlestick Park tonight. In case you didn't know, I live only about 3 miles away from home of the 49ers (for now), but I had not been there before in the 7 years I have lived in San Francisco.

The neighborhoods surrounding Candlestick are mostly poor, although I did feel sorry for the RV park right across the street. But the 'Stick is right on the water, which can make for some foggy and cool games, especially when the baseball team, the Giants, were playing there.

4 days away from the game, it was very quiet and lonely tonight around the stadium. And I am planning on going back there on game day.
